The Story of Bang Wallpaper

Designed for Joy. Made for real people.

It all started on a fishing trip in California.

Ben and Dillon met on Lake Tahoe—two strangers on a boat, thrown together by mutual friends and a shared hope of catching something big. They didn’t. But somewhere between tangled lines and long conversations, they realised they’d stumbled onto something more interesting than fish.

Dillon was a designer-slash-inventor—the kind of guy who sees a problem and starts sketching a solution before dessert. Ben was the business brain—experienced, practical, and always asking the right questions. One was slightly too obsessed with glue adhesion tests, the other had a thing for spreadsheets.

They started talking about home. Not in the big, abstract way—but in the simple, human way. Why is it so hard to make your space feel like yours when you’re renting? Why does high-quality wallpaper feel like it’s priced for mansions, not apartments? Why does everything either damage your walls, your lungs, or your bank account?

What started as an idea turned into a mission:

To bring joy to people’s spaces—without the compromise.

That meant wallpaper and wall murals that are:

  • Customisable and renter-friendly
  • Free from harmful chemicals
  • Easy to put up and just as easy to remove
  • Durable enough to last for years, not months
  • Washable, because life gets messy
  • And priced fairly, so it’s actually accessible

They built Bang Wallpaper as renters, for renters—people who want to feel at home, even if they don’t own the place.

Today, Bang exists to make beautiful, thoughtful design something everyone can have—whether you’ve just bought a downtown LA loft, a backyard studio in Berkeley, or you’re renting your first apartment with questionable plumbing.

Because everyone deserves to have joy in their space. And no one should need a trust fund—or a hazmat suit—to do it.

Looking for the best quality peel & stick wallpaper available on the West coast USA?

All of our peel & stick wallpapers and wall murals are commercial grade quality. This means they're thicker, stronger and more water resistant than standard quality peel & stick wallpaper.

All of our murals are made to be custom sized to your wall – you will see you can add the dimensions of your wall in on our product page and we will custom make it to that size for you.
Want your own image or one of ours edited? No problem, just reach out to us on live chat or on our create your own wallpaper or mural page. and we will get right back to you with options.

Our peel & stick wallpapers are made with waterproof vinyl meaning water can't get through them and they are suitable for bathrooms or other high steam environments.
If the wallpaper edge is touching an area that will have standing water (e.g. the edge of a basin or bath) then a thin layer of clear caulking is recommended.
The caulking will ensure that water cannot get behind the wallpaper, if this happens the wallpaper can start to lift slightly over time.
Don't worry if it's already happened – let it dry out and then apply the caulking behind the wallpaper and over the edge, this will stick it back down and make sure further water can't get behind it.

Yes! the technologically advanced low tack glue on our commercial grade peel & stick wallpaper is removable (even after a year).
If the paint you currently have on the walls is not very poor quality then you will be able to remove it without any issues.
Just grab a corner and pull it slowly at about a 45 degree angle, if it is holding on a bit tight just blow warm air with a hairdryer onto it while pulling – this will soften the glue and allow the wallpaper to be removed from your rental quickly, easily and without damaging the walls.

The short answer is yes, but not ours.
Some wallpaper inks – especially those made with solvent inks can release VOCs (volatile organic compounds) into the air which can be unhealthy.

All Bang Wallpaper wallpapers and wall murals are made with GreenGuard Gold low -VOC certified inks which are water based and don't pose a health risk.

We get it – wallpaper installers in California can be expensive, luckily our peel & stick wallpaper's glue has another great benefit, you can stick it down and if it's not straight just lift it back up and reposition it – you can do this as many times as you need without it losing it's stickiness.

We tend to tell people that if you're patient and have a bit of DIY experience (e.g. measuring, able to draw a straight line, cutting with a utility knife etc) then you will be fine.

It's a simple DIY process. Start by aligning the panel with the top and side of your wall, peel the backing gradually and smooth out air bubbles as you go. Use a squeegee or a piece of the cardboard box it comes in to push any bubbles out and to the sides. Each panel overlaps slightly to ensure a seamless look. If you make a mistake, just peel back and reposition.

Our peel and stick wallpapers and murals work best on smooth, clean, and dry surfaces like painted drywall, glass, metal, or smooth wood.
They may not adhere well to textured or rough surfaces. Clean the wall to remove dust before installation.

We print each mural to order within 3–5 business days. Shipping within the U.S. typically takes 3–5 business days depending on location. Expedited shipping options may be available for an additional fee.

No. Our murals use a low-tack adhesive that is gentle on walls.
When you're ready to remove them, slowly peel each panel at a 45-degree angle.
The adhesive won't damage your paint unless it is very poor quality paint; if any residue remains, gently wipe with a damp cloth.
